Natalie Portman & Tobey Maguire Screen 'Brothers' In NYC

Jake Gyllenhaal was conspicuously absent for The Cinema Society's screening of his film, Brothers, in New York City. However, in his stead, his co-stars, Natalie Portman and Tobey Maguire made their way along the red carpet for the event.

Tobey looked sleek in a trim black suit and wife, Jennifer Meyer, on his arm while Natalie opted for a brighter look in a deep violet, short poofy dress, a bright yellow clutch and purple peep-toe pumps.

Of course, the busy actress already has another project lined up. Recently, it was announced that Portman would star in Thor. Natalie explained her reason for considering the role by saying, "I just thought it sounded like a weird idea because Kenneth Branagh's directing it, so I was just like, 'Kenneth Branagh doing Thor is super-weird. I've gotta do it.'"

Speaking of super-weird, I'm still not used to Katharine McPhee's blond hair.

'New Moon' Screening Brings Out Hip NYC Crowd [PHOTO GALLERY]

While celebrities seemed to shy away from the Los Angeles premiere of New Moon, this was not the cast at the The Twilight Saga: New Moon screening hosted by The Cinema Society & D&G in New York City.

It was a pretty hip crowd. Jessica Szohr, Katie Lee Joel, Taylor Momsen, Howard Stern, Jessica Stam, Kenneth Cole, Alison Mosshart, Ivanka Trump, Amber Rose, Patrick Wilson, Natalie Portman, Lydia Heast, Agyness Deyn, Rachel Roy, Justin Tuck, Veronica Webb, Beth Ostrosky, Sarah Winter, Ed Westwick, Joan Jett, Justin Kirk, Abigail Breslin, Dan Abrams, Emma Roberts, Fergie, Eric Mabius, Trey Songz and Alexa Chung all joined the New Moon cast for the screening of the film.

Natalie Portman Is All Angles On 'V Magazine'

Sweet-faced Natalie Portman is showing off a decidedly severe look with her thick eyeliner and a pompadour on the cover of V magazine. The actress stars with Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire in the drama, Brothers, and chatted with the magazine about another upcoming project, the Darren Aronofsky film, Black Swan.

In the picture, Natalie will be doing a lesbian sex scene, which she insists is "not raunchy--it's extreme." Her hesitance to film love scenes has been influenced by the Internet.

"It's annoying, because online bullshit interferes with what I want to do artistically. I'm not opposed to sexuality or nudity in a film, but I'm very opposed to pornography sites and you're pretty much giving them material if you do any of that," Portman explains. Yes, they should be ashamed of themselves.

Natalie Portman Thinks Eating Meat Should Be Illegal

Recently, Natalie Portman employed her activist fingers in writing an op-ed feature for the Huffington Post, in which she asserts her vegetarian position.

The title of the 28-year-old Harvard graduate's piece is entitled, Jonathan Safran Foer's 'Eating Animals Turned Me Vegan,' and in it, the actress expresses her belief that vegetarianism is the only ethical choice.

Of the author, she writes, "[Foer] posits that consideration, as promoted by Michael Pollan in The Omnivore's Dilemma, which has more to do with being polite to your tablemates than sticking to your own ideals, would be absurd if applied to any other belief (e.g., I don't believe in rape, but if it's what it takes to please my dinner hosts, then so be it)."

Sorry to be tangential, but this totally reminds me of a dinner party I once threw for Mike Tyson. Kidding! But seriously, did you guys see his interview on Oprah? Interesting stuff.

Emmy Rossum & Adam Duritz: Ballet-Loving Twosome

Softening the blow from ending her clandestine marriage to Justin Siegel, Emmy Rossum has been spending some quality red carpet time with her new beau, Counting Crows singer, Adam Duritz.

The 23-year-old actress turned up in a sparkly white gown on the arm of Duritz at the American Ballet Theater Fall gala at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall in New York. And it seems that part of the couple's attraction to one another is being able to make beautiful music together.

Duritz tells People magazine, "She can sing her ass off...I sing with her all the time." The scruffy musician adds, "I like to make music with her." After chatting with press, the headed of to dinner, hand-in-hand.

Other celebs in attendance were dressed to the nines, including models Veronica Webb and Iman, who both opted for stunning, floor-length gowns. Actresses Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis opted for twinsie-looking black and white coats, dresses and black pumps.

Jude Law's 'Hamlet' Comes To Broadway

After getting rave reviews for his portrayal of Hamlet, Jude Law has officially arrived on Broadway with the Donmar Warehouse production. The show will run through December 6 at the Broadhurst Theater in New York.

For the opening of the play, such celebrities showed up to see Jude soliloquize on stage as Barbara Walters, Ed Westwick, Natalie Portman and True Blood star, Rutina Wesley.

In addition, it seems there were more than a few young women in the audience, hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite movie star performing live, assuredly hoping to toss some bra and panties onto the stage to show their appreciation for the fine arts.

Natalie Portman Unsure Of Her Acting Future

While Natalie Portman is clearly enjoying being and actor, she's still not sure it's something that she will be wanting to do in ten years. Natalie worked the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote new film Love And Other Impossible Pursuits.

"I do not know if I want to work, I do not know if I will be able to work," the actress said. Asked to expand why she felt unable to commit to being in films in 10 year's time, Natalie explained: "I said I do not know because I feel month-to-month I change so much... it is hard to project."

Look for Natalie to be slinging hash at your local dinner in 2019.

Natalie Portman Loves Her Filthy Hip Hop

Remember when Natalie Portman teamed up with Andy Samberg for her rap debut with their SNL short together? Well it seems the actress' love for rap music is no joke.

The stunning 28-year-old star of Brothers recently sat down with her co-star, Jake Gyllenhaal, for a piece in Interview magazine. In the September issue, Portman confesses her passion for "really, really obscene hip-hop."

As Portman explains it, "It makes me laugh and then it makes me want to dance. Those are like my two favorite things, so combined..."

So, what's her favorite song from the genre? "Wait (The Whisper Song)" by the Ying Yang Twins. Of the obscenities, Natalie says, "So I just listen to it like I'm a 5-year-old, like, 'Oh my God! I can't believe he just said that!'"

Now there's a woman after my own heart.

Natalie Portman Joins 'Thor'

Thor's got himself a leading lady! The Hollywood Reporter has stated that Natalie Portman has been cast as Jane Foster, the female lead in Thor, Marvel Studios' adaptation of its comic books about the Norse god of thunder.

Kenneth Branagh is directing the film, which stars Star Trek hottie Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Tom Hiddleston as Loki, the god of mischief who serves as the film's villain. Natalie's character was a nurse in the early comics who became Thor's first love, although the studio says that the character will be updated for the film.

Thor will mark Marvel's first attempt at an epic fantasy adventure that spans from present-day Earth to the realm of Asgard. The film will center on Norse god Thor, who is cast down to Earth after restarting an ancient war in Asgard. On Earth, Thor becomes a super baller hero when Loki, the dangerous villain of his world, sends dark forces to invade Earth.

The film begins production in early 2010 and is set to be released in May of 2011. Safe to say I am uber excited for this film. Chris Hemsworth is so hot and just imagining him in the Thor is getting me excited. And Natalie Portman is pretty hot too. I'm only hoping for good things from this film.

Up next for Natalie is the film Brothers with Jake Gyllenhaal and Spiderman himself Tobey Maguire, which also looks pretty good. Yay good movies!

Natalie Portman Smooches Jake Gyllenhaal In 'Brothers' Trailer

So all the ice-skating pictures Natalie Portman on the set of her film Brothers are making more sense, now that we have the context of the trailer to go by.

Here's a video preview of the thriller, which has A-listers Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie starring in a love triangle. It looks pretty good, with Tobey and Jake pitted against one another for the affection of sweet little Natalie. Lots of chemistry between Ms. Portman and Mr. Gyllenhaal.

Meanwhile, Natalie's not yet in the mood to be promoting the flick, ducking the paparazzi during a visit to the Nobu Berkeley restaurant. But you can't really blame the woman, since there's not a red carpet in sight.
