However Taylor Swift was not there, but she's apparently incredibly popular. She beat out Michael Jackson to win Entertainer of the Year and took home a total of five American Music Awards.

The highlight of the night for me was Whitney Houston's performance of "I Didn't Know My Own Strength." While the rasp was present throughout the performance, the girl knows how to command a stage. She belted out the performance until she was almost out of breath. It was a powerful moment.



Michel Jackson ended up with four awards. Other multiple winners included hip-hop acts Jay-Z and the Black Eyed Peas, with two each.

The Black Eyed Peas were named favorite group in both the pop/rock and soul/R&B categories. Jay-Z won favorite male artist and favorite album in the rap/hip-hop categories.

Punk rock trio Green Day was named favorite alternative artist. Rascal Flatts won favorite country group for the fourth year in a row.

Latino's and plenty of non-Latino's hit the red carpet for the Los Premios MTV 2009 Latin America Awards held at Gibson Amphitheatre this evening in Universal City, California.

Ashley Tisdale, Alessandra Ambrosio, Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Nelly Furtado, Audrina Patridge, Dave Navarro, Allison Iraheta and Drake Bell all hit the red carpet.

MTV will roll its raucous red carpet across continents with its eighth annual Los Premios MTV honouring the best of the year's pop, rock and reggaeton from across Latin America.

The multi-city awards show culminates Thursday evening in Los Angeles after kicking off in September with six of 27 awards presented at regional events in Buenos Aires, Mexico City and Bogota.

Singer Nelly Furtado and Dita Von Teese has front row seats at the Elie Saab ready-to-wear fashion show during Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 at Espace Ephemere Tuileries yesterday.

Furtado, who recently released her first album in Spanish, Mi Plan, also revealed that she is looking for a high-profile female collaborator.

"I'd also like to work with a big girl popstar - maybe Madonna or Kylie Minogue?" she added.

"I've mostly done collaborations with men, but I got to work with a few females on Mi Plan, and it was fun breaking it up, so I'd like to explore that more in the future."

Looking very much like a teensy silver trophy herself, Desperate Housewives star, Eva Longoria sizzled in a sparkly silver sheath dress at thie year's ALMA Awards.

The event took place at Royce Hall on the UCLA Campus in Westwood, host to such Latin stars as Salma Hayek, Edward James Olmos and George Lopez.

New mom Salma was stunning in a pale purple, backless mini-dress in a roaring 20s vibe that included dark red lipstick and oversized jewelry.

Her buddy, Penelope Cruz took home a prize for her performance in the Woody Allen flick, Vicky Cristina Barcelona but was a no-show at the event. Hmm, maybe someone didn't have the energy to find a dress that would conceal her baby bump?

Selena Gomez won an award for her series, The Wizards of Waverly Place, for which she recently received an Emmy.

In an exchange with Martin about other people Chris and wife Gwyneth Paltrow have jokingly allowed each other to sleep with - editor guy brought up Brad. "She was engaged to him, you f*cker," was Martin's response as well as "c*nt" and a "swift blow to the chest." Which was probably just kind of a brush with a limp hand and a collapse to the ground because that bitch can't throw a punch. All he eats is Gwyneth's macrobiotic bullshit. He needs an IV not a brawl.

One of the luckiest dudes on earth, Travis Barker, says he's healing quickly since his plane crash last month. Who the hell can say that in their lifetime? "I can't wait to get out of here and be home with the babes," blogged Barker. "The doctors say I'm healing up quickly and I'm going to be out of here before you know it." He's had to undergo seven surgeries for the burns he sustained. Dealing with his ex, whorish media fiend Shanna Moakler, is worse.

Nelly Furtado got hitched to sound engineer Demacio "Demo" Castellon on July 19, she revealed. Say it right, Nelly! "I love it. It's a nice phase of my life." Phase? Damn, hope she signed a pre-nup. The worked on her Loose album together and got engaged last year. Did she have the baby?  Perhaps I shouldn't be asking. Ouch.
