I just love Nick Lachey.  He's a philanthropist, popular with the ladies, and is partly responsible for creating the genius that was 'Newlyweds.'  I don't care who knows it, I think that show was magic!  Chicken of the sea!

And I'm back.  Nick Lachey is now all set to host a 4-night competition show on NBC featuring eight singing groups.  The premier is December 14th and the prize is an Epic Records/ Sony Recording contract.  The groups will be singing a cappella.

"There is nowhere to hide when you're doing an a cappella song," Lachey told People. "There's no band behind you and dubbing. It's just you. It's just them naked on stage and what they have done to prepare is what will show through in that moment."

Naked on stage?!  I'm there!  I kid; I know what he meant.  But it does sound like a pretty fun concept.  Like American Idol for groups, and with no accompaniment.  Not as good as naked singing, but I'll watch nonetheless.

Finally some good news coming out of this crap-ass economy!

Nick Lachey and Rachael Ray helped out town-in-need Wilmington, Ohio, by providing a complete makeover for their local soup kitchen.

The town recently suffered major economic devastation when several businesses, including DHL Express, which employed a large percentage of the town, closed this summer, leaving thousands unemployed.  Needless to say, the soup kitchen couldn't possibly accommodate the swelling numbers of needy citizens.

Rachael Ray's show (which has been feeling the love lately) revealed the makeover on Saturday, and has also promised to stock the pantry shelves for the next year.  I assume that all of this food will be totally 'delish.'

Nick admits that this is just a drop in the bucket.

"This is one community out of a multitude across the country that needs help," Lachey said, "and what I'm hoping is that this raises awareness about hunger and pushes people to go out in their own communities, help out."

What a guy!  This is far from being his only foray into the world of philanthropy.  Now I feel less guilty about watching/ loving "Newlyweds."  But not by much.  Stop judging me!

Here's Nick now with on-again lady-friend, Vanessa Minnillo, waiting for the valet guy to get their car.  By-the-by, despite breaking up, dating various rebound people, and then getting back together, these two are still yawnsville.  I'm just saying.

Jessica Simpson is seen arriving at Heathrow Airport from Marrakech with hairdresser BFF Ken Paves. The star is traveling the globe in order to film her reality series The Price of Beauty.

Jessica has been been comforted on her travels by women sympathizing with the media criticism she endured over her rounder figure earlier this year.

Although she might as well not hope for any comfort from ex-husband Nick Lachey. He did not reach out to Jessica when her dog Daisy was snatched by a wild coyote last month. Lachey said, "I didn't reach out to her. I'm sure she was upset... I was upset... It was sad to hear that happened, but it's part of the cycle of life."

I guess faithful companion Ken Paves is filling the role of comfort giver for Jessica right now.

After his breakup from girlfriend, Vanessa Minnillo, Nick Lachey is wasting no time finding female companionship. The singer/reality TV star met up with a mystery blond for some drinks and conversation at Stanley's in Sherman Oaks, California.

Lachey was spotted just last week getting friendly with a brunette who reminded us of Nick's recent ex, Vanessa. Now, here's Nick out with a girl who could easily be a stand-in for Nick's ex-wife, Jessica Simpson.

Things must have gone well, since the two were seen leaving the restaurant together. She's nice, Nick, but there's nothing like the real thing. Chicken of the Sea, baby.

The Madden NFL 10 Youth Football Festival & Pigskin Pro-Am brought 500 middle school youth from the Los Angeles area to participate in football clinics and other health and fitness activities. EA SPORTS will use Madden NFL 10 as a teaching tool to help enhance children's football knowledge.

As it turns out, there's more than one thing Nick Lachey has in common with Tony Romo besides Jessica Simpson. Both guys seem to be rebounding from their respective breakups by hitting the club scene and hard.

Nick was spotted Tuesday night by paparazzi out with a group of friends wearing his Cincinnatti Reds jersey out for dinner in West Hollywood.

From there, Nick popped over to the Madame Royale nightclub, according to RadarOnline.com. And he spent some quality time mixing and mingling with a stunning mystery woman. The brunette bore a passing resemblance to Nick's ex, Vanessa Minnillo.

And on a school night, no less. Tsk, tsk, Mr. Lachey.

Sadly, my dreams have once again been crushed. Even though Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson, former spouses and reality TV stars, are both single again at the same time, there is no truth to any rumors that two may start dating again.

Nick told People, "I think it's fun storytelling, but there's very little truth to any of it. I certainly have heard about her breakup and I wish her the best, as I've always done. Aside from that, there really is nothing to say." Nothing to say? How about an "I love you Jessica! I've always loved you! Let's get back together and make the fans happy!" That sounds good to me. Apparently, the two don't even talk anymore. "I haven't talked to her in probably two years. I wish her happiness. That's where it pretty much ends."

After having recently broken up with girlfriend of three years, Vanessa Minnillo, Nick doesn't seem to upset about it. "I'm in a good place," he tells People. "I've learned, through years of not only being in this business, but being in relationships, that you have to take it as it goes. With every experience, you learn something about your life, and you try to take that and move on and be a better person because of it. We'll see what happens."

It's quite possible that Jessica will still grieve over her break-up from Tony Romo using John Mayer and Nick. Nick and Jessica are like Barbie and Ken, at some point they're gonna have to get back together, right?

Adding insult to injury, Tony Romo not only has ended his relationship with Jessica Simpson, but the split reportedly happened the day before the pop singer's 29th birthday.

A source dished to Us Weekly that Simpson has canceled her Ken and Barbie-themed birthday bash as a result, but is "doing OK." In addition, a friend of Romo's said the break up didn't come as a shock. "They go from one fight right into another, without a second break," the snitch tattled.

With the festivities canceled, Romo opted to spend his ex-girlfriend's birthday at the L.A. club My House. As a fan of the Newlyweds series, I can only hope it's no coincidence that both Jessica and her ex-husband Nick Lachey are single at the same time. Lord knows, they were much stronger with their powers combined.

Well that sure didn't take long. Less than a week after Vanessa Minnillo split with Nick Lachey, she's found someone to flirt with.

RadarOnline witnessed the Vanessa and Topher Grace hookup going down firsthand:

Vanessa and Topher Grace started chatting. Topher then started rubbing her arm, and Vanessa whispered in his ear and they exchanged phone numbers.

Before long they were on the dance floor and putting the "dirty" in dirty dancing. Vanessa took off her shoes and held them in one hand, wrapping her other arm around Topher's neck and the next thing we knew she was kissing him on the neck!


In a bit of perfect timing the DJ spun "Sex on Fire" by Kings of Leon and Vanessa turned her back to Topher, and did a super hot grind/dance while he played with her hair. The music switched to The Jackson Five's ABC and that's when Vanessa and Topher started Making Out right on the dance floor!

Well the girl knows how to move on.

Another one bites the dust. Love just can't seem to last in Hollywood. The latest couple to break up are singer Nick Lachey and I guess actress, Vanessa Minnillo.

A source close to the couple told US Magazine: "It was an amicable break-up. They walk away from it still friends." Adds another source, "They still care about each other very much. This is what's best for both of them."

The couple started dating in 2006, a year after Lachey split from wife Jessica Simpson. They were seen last together just a few days ago.
