However Taylor Swift was not there, but she's apparently incredibly popular. She beat out Michael Jackson to win Entertainer of the Year and took home a total of five American Music Awards.

The highlight of the night for me was Whitney Houston's performance of "I Didn't Know My Own Strength." While the rasp was present throughout the performance, the girl knows how to command a stage. She belted out the performance until she was almost out of breath. It was a powerful moment.



Michel Jackson ended up with four awards. Other multiple winners included hip-hop acts Jay-Z and the Black Eyed Peas, with two each.

The Black Eyed Peas were named favorite group in both the pop/rock and soul/R&B categories. Jay-Z won favorite male artist and favorite album in the rap/hip-hop categories.

Punk rock trio Green Day was named favorite alternative artist. Rascal Flatts won favorite country group for the fourth year in a row.

We brought you photos of Angelina Jolie (who wore a form-fitting strapless black leather Michael Kors dress and Dior heels) and Brad Pitt attending the premiere of Inglourious Basterds last night, but we didn't share the news about their one-year-old twins. "The twins are great. They're walking," Angelina told Life & Style.

Brad told them "I hope to get all of my kids involved [in humanitarian efforts]. I hope to raise them properly so that they have a good conscience, and they're good people."

And what about expanding the Jolie-Pitt clan? "Angelina laughed off questions about whether she planned to have more children," says Life & Style's reporter.

Oh yeah, there are definitely more Jolie-Pitt's coming.

Sneaking in a kiss to Demi Moore, multiple ESPY award winner, Michael Phelps (who led the men on the red carpet) took advantage of the 17th Annual ESPY Awards to swoop in and plant a wet one on the wife of infamous prankster, Ashton Kutcher.

Hollywood's most familiar faces showed up at the event, stumbling briefly during a teleprompter mix-up. Luckily, however, all eyes were on the winners, who included Phelps, winner of best male athlete and four other awards.

Best team trophy went to triumphant NBA team, the Los Angeles Lakers, who received the award from musical legend Stevie Wonder. Tennis superstar sisters, Venus and Serena Williams, (who joined a bevvy of beautiful ladies on the red carpet for the event) presented the Arthur Ashe Award to Nelson Mandela. In his stead, his daughter Zindzi and grandson Zondwa accepted the silver trophy.

Host Samuel L. Jackson joked that Phelps responded with a Tweet that said, "Can't believe I lost the Arthur Ashe Award to Nelson Mandela. I can swim circles around that guy."

So taken with Scarlett Johansson's "sense of comic timing" and "her wry humor" was director Frank Miller, that he decided to re-write the character of Silken Floss for The Spirit.

Hoping to capitalize on Johansson's unique qualities, Miller said that he thought to himself, "OK, the character is kind of a repressed astrophysicist, but how did she spend her 20s?" And it was from there that he crafted the younger version of the character from the graphic novel series.
