It seems like the premiere of New Moon was just yesterday, well like two days ago, and we've been left with a little sadness in our hearts withRobert Pattinson losing out to Johnny Depp for People's Sexiest Man Alive. Not that Johnny Depp isn't sexy, but come on.

An electrifying smile is the most obvious accessory Nikki Reed is sporting on the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of The Twilight Saga: New Moon. The actress showed off her legs in a pale, blue, silk dress.

Going for a more dramatic look, Anna Kendrick, stepped out in a black, super sparkly dress with one sleeve that appears to be constructed out of a complicated mosaic of tiles. Very festive. Loving her shoes.

Statuesque Noot Seear towered over her New Moon co-star, Elizabeth Reaser. While Noot opted for a busy look, in a patterened mini-dress, Elizabeth's choice of a cream-colored, body-hugging dress provided a contrast to the model's choice of outfit.

Chaske Spencer cut a serious figure, in his all-black suit and BooBoo Stewart followed suit, save for a white necktie.  I can't tell if it's the lighting or what, but both Michael Welch and Justin Chon look like they were a teensy bit heavy handed with their man make-up for the event. But their suits definitely looked nice.

Justine Wachsberger selected a bright green, strapless, short dress for the event, as did Julia Jones, who showed off her shoulders in a white and bright pink dress. Very youthful look for both of them.

ENTER: Kayla Ewell, who plays Vickie Donovan on the CW's new hit series Vampire Diaries. In real life, Kayla may not be with the Twilight Saga's, Kellan Lutz after their two-and-a-half year relationship ended, but she is still one of the luckiest girls in the world for having been able to make hanging out with Kellan, and cast-mate Robert Pattinson, a regular occurrence.

I remember the first time I met him [Robert Pattinson] -- I was like, "Oh, hello!" And then he starts talking and that makes it 1,000 times hotter. I'm a sucker for accents and any man who can actually sing and serenade you. He'd do open-mic nights in random bars in Portland, Ore., while they were filming Twilight. I was dating Kellan then and we'd all hang out sometimes.

Get this ladies, not only did she get to hang with Kellan and Robert, but she also gets to go into work everyday with mega hotties, and co-stars, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley? Let us all say it together now, "YOU NEED A SANDWICH AND A SWEATER, 'CAUSE YOU'RE TOO SKINNY FOR THOSE TEETH."  Hmph.

Oh, Stephenie Meyer, when will you learn that ripping off other people's ideas for your own is not nice? TMZ reports that a woman named Jordan Scott is looking to sue the Twilight author because the last book in the series, Breaking Dawn, is extremely similar to her own book The Nocturne.

Scott's lawyers have sent a highly entertaining letter to the publishers of Breaking Dawn, which shows, in ridiculous detail, the exact similarities between the two books. TMZ has the full letter, so please, enoy! She claims that her book was published two years before Meyer's book, and that most of the scenes are almost identical.

Would you like some examples? Oh good: 1) Both books have a wedding scene. 2) Both books have a sex on the beach scene. 3) Both have unborn babies that seem to be hurting their mother in the womb. 4) Both have characters that refer to their significant other as "love."

What you think I'm kidding about that last part? Why would even need to make stuff up when the reality is so much more entertaining?

I don't think that Stephenie Meyer intentionally ripped anyone off; that's just the nature of vampire novels. I've read a lot of vampire novels. Like a lot. Like I've been reading them before they were cool, so I can say truthfully say this: all the books are the same! Yes, there are different characters and like an engagement instead of a wedding, but they all tell the same basic story. And if she did rip of Jordan Scott, congrats Jordan! Everyone who has read Twilight or seen the movie or plans to see New Moon and Eclipse will now read your book.

Robert Pattinson looks to be having a great night out in Vancouver, BC. The Twilight star was seen arriving at a cast party for New Moon in Yaletown, Vancouver. Rob was seen taking cigarette breaks with Kristen and was very animated as he chatted with friends outside the bar.

Twilight author Stephanie Mayer arrived for New Moon cast party in Vancouver. The best selling author was seen at the Blue Cafe in Yaletown, Vancouver where the rest of the cast were (including Rachelle Lefevre and Dakota Fanning). Mayer was seen chatting to Rob as she sat next to him whilst he ate dinner.

Chris Weitz, the director of The Golden Compass and About a Boy, has been confirmed as the director of the Twilight sequel New Moon. Weitz posted a letter to Twilight fans to help calm their nerves about the loss of Catherine Hardwicke as the director:

Dear fans of Twilight, New Moon, Bella, Edward and Jacob,

In the past few days I have been involved in a whirlwind romance with Stephenie Meyers' extraordinary books.

And I am very grateful to have received her permission to protect New Moon in its translation from the page to the screen.

For fans of the books and of the film of Twilight, this may come as an unexpected twist. So I want to write briefly to try to put you at ease, and to give you reason to hope for and expect the best.

For the last decade of my career as a director, I have chosen to make adaptations of complex and involved works of literature. This has always begun with the love of a book and its characters, story, and theme; and it has always involved a respect of and responsiveness to the feelings of other people who loved those books.

When I saw the film of Twilight, I was alternately entranced and left hungry for more. I was also struck by the extraordinary passion for the characters, story and theme that was evident in the people sitting in the seats around me. My job is to live up to that devotion.

Like many of you, I am a fan of Catherine Hardwicke's work. I can't really say much about why she is not doing New Moon because I wasn't involved in those decisions. But I can say that I will devote myself to making the very best and most faithful version of New Moon that can be brought to the screen. To those who doubt that as a male director I can capture Bella's experience, I can only say that emotion is universal and that my work has often involved working with some of the most talented actresses in the world.

For the rest, the proof will have to be in the pudding. But I promise to remain responsive to your hopes and fears.

The writer of the Twilight novels, Stephanie Meyer, also posted a message to reassure fans. That letter is after the jump (click the continue reading link below to read her letter).

The director of Stephenie Meyer's film adaptation of Twilight will not be at the helm of the sequel. Catherine Hardwicke revealed, "I am sorry that due to timing I will not have the opportunity to direct New Moon."

Hardwicke's exit from the project comes amidst rumors of discord between the director and production company Summit Entertainment despite the movie's record-breaking box office returns.

The gist of the rift is that Summit was keen to rush out a follow-up to the big screen while Catherine requested more time to develop the story, which will rely heavily on CGI effects.

It's a shame Summit and Hardwicke don't appear to be getting along as swimmingly as its stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are...allegedly.

Not that we expected anything less from the film starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. According to Variety, the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's vampire-romance saga took in $7 million from shows at midnight on Thursday, and it's on pace to bank as much as $30 mil on Friday.

If so, Twilight could land a spot on the top 20 list of best opening day grosses, somewhere between No. 17 and No. 20. Twilight is expected to open in the $50 million to $60 million range, although it has a shot of ending in the 60s. It depends upon how much traffic slows down from Friday to Saturday.

If the Twilight fan frenzy moves mainstream, we could have a blockbuster on our hands. If it doesn't Robert Pattison will be biting necks for dollars on a street corner near you.

Pre-wide release screenings and premieres of Twilight have resulted in praise of the film, from both fans and critics alike. As you might have noticed (*ahem*) we've caught some Twilight fever ourselves because dammit, that shit is highly contagious.

As for the fans, most seem happy with the on-screen version of the Stephenie Meyer-created landscape and characters. One of our favorite reactions came from a 20-year-old female fan who was quoted as saying:

"I wanted to scream every time Edward was onscreen. I'm going to model my boyfriend after him. I'll take him to see the movie and say 'see--like that. You should be like that.' "

Apologies to her future ex-husband will assuredly be prepared by Summit Entertainment, Stephenie Meyer and of course, Robert Pattinson. Seriously though, can't wait to drag our collective boyfriends to the premiere! Let the impossible expectations begin!

The Hot Topic autograph signing sessions, the sneak peek trailers, the red carpet photocalls--it's all led up to this. Twilight has finally premiered with its young stars on the red carpet, with their hair all twisted up into fashionable waves atop their head.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart looked the picture-perfect couple, the most subtle of smiles on their faces lest they accidentally look too excited.

Taylor Lautner, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Cam Gigandet, Elizabeth Reaser and other costars all made it to the Mann Village Bruin Theaters in Westwood, California, their respective fangs perfectly concealed underneath fancy clothing and friendly smiles.
