The setting for Vince Vaughn's most recent comedy, Couples Retreat, is tropical French Polynesia. So it's no wonder that the female stars of the film--Malin Akerman, Kristen Bell, hottie Carlos Ponce and Kristin Davis--have been have spent most of their time in bikinis and other skimpy loungewear.

Jokingly, Vince tells MTV News, "If me and the guys are going to show some skin around, we know the ladies are going to show up. That's what we do." Continuing the gag, Vince adds, "If the scene calls for it, I'm gonna do it. Thankfully, diet and exercise are high on my list."

Fun fact, Peter Billingsley who played Ralphie Parker in A Christmas Story, directed Couples Retreat.

But in all seriousness, threw were lots of gorgeous people on the red carpet for the event, including Helen Mirren in a stunning blue dress.

Kristen Bell and her boyfriend Dax Shepard, Jason Bateman and Vince Vaughn enjoy a day out on Sydney harbour. Kristen and Dax could not keep their hands off of each other once again. They even got a bit frisky on the top deck of their crusing yacht before heading downstairs for half an hour before resurfacing.

I'm sure Kristen was jut working on her comedic timing.

Carlos Ponce (you may remember him from Lipstick Jungle) plays a hot yoga teacher in the upcoming film, Couples Retreat with Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, Kristen Bell, Jean Reno and Jason Bateman.

He plays the role with a stereotypical thick accent but you won't be focusing on that. They'll be too distracted by everything else that is Carlos Ponce.

Well, it does look like Vince Vaughn has moved on from Jennifer Aniston. He's dropped the big question to his girlfriend Kyla Weber.

According to Star Magazine, Vince and Kyla, who has since relocated to L.A, cemented their relationship on Valentine's Day, says the source.

"They spent a romantic weekend together. He dropped to one knee to propose and presented her with a gorgeous $125,000 4-carat diamond set in platinum. They'll have their wedding either in L.A. or Alberta, and they're both ready to start a family immediately!"

Vince Vaughn is looking awfully committed on his vacation with girlfriend Kyla Weber, fueling speculation that the couple have recently become engaged. The two stroll the beach of Cabo San Lucas on their Mexican vacation.

After his highly-publicized relationship with Jennifer Aniston ended, Vaughn has been maintaining a low-profile dating-wise and has been seeing Canadian real-estate agent Weber for several months now and it was rumored that he might pop the question by the end of last year.

I saw Vince in person once taking a hike. It's not related to anything in this post, but I just thought I'd throw that out there.

2008 was a tumultuous year for more than a few celebrities. Here's our look at some of the ones who defined the word "survivor" this year.

A-list Anne Hathaway has been a star on the rise since The Devil Wears Prada opposite Meryl Streep catapulted her into the superstar realm in 2006. Unfortunately, her relationship with longtime boyfriend Rafaello Follieri didn't follow the same track. The Italian real estate developer, whom Hathaway had dated since 2004, was arrested in June of this year for reportedly fleecing investors out of millions of dollars in a fraud scheme. Hathaway, knowing that Follieri was under investigation by the Feds, broke up with him in the same month. Anne's diaries were also seized as evidence by the authorities. "It's a situation where the rug was pulled out from under me all of a sudden. But just as suddenly, my friends threw another rug back under me. One said, 'Go stay at my house.' " she later said about the break-up. Follieri went to jail, and Hathaway is reportedly dating again, being linked with both Josh Lucas and actor Adam Shulman. So she bounced back. Let's just hope that she insists on total honesty in a relationship from now on...

Jennifer Aniston seems to have gotten stronger and stronger since ex-husband Brad Pitt fell in love with his co-star Angelina Jolie on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and they divorced in 2005. Since then, Aniston has often been portrayed as the sad victim of a villainous vamp who stole her man. Subsequent relationships with Vince Vaughn, British model Paul Sculfor, and John Mayer did little to change that image. It wasn't until recently, when Aniston got back together with Mayer after seemingly asserting herself over his formerly constant paparazzi whoring, that she finally seemed to come into her own again. Aniston recently appeared nude except for a men's necktime on the cover of GQ, looking happy and now even jokes about her divorce in interviews. She even says that her and Pitt keep in touch and remain somewhat friendly. $10 says she still keep her "Angelina Is A Slut" shrine up just in case she relapses.

Director Guy Ritchie had a rough year, but ultimately got one over on ex-wife Madonna in the end. Ritchie, who married Madge in 2000, seemed to have spent the last years of their marriage as nothing more than Madonna's coat carrier and husband accessory. Madonna, a known control freak, reportedly had him on an extremely tight leash, insisted he practice her Kabbalah religion, and would spend months apart from him on one tour or another. Their icy marriage came to a head when her reportedly ongoing affair with New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez was revealed this summer. The couple officially split in October, and it was recently alleged that Ritchie will reportedly receive around $76 million of Madonna's vast fortune in their settlement. He's also said to be dating Kelly Reilly, an actress in his new Sherlock Holmes movie that he's currently filming. Guy Ritchie: 76, Madonna: 0.

And 2008's truest survivor was Oscar-winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson. In October, Hudson's mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew were were murdered. The prime suspect, William Balfour, has been arrested and charged with the killings and is set to go on trial. He is the estranged husband of Hudson's sister, and the senseless crimes reportedly occurred over an argument about a borrowed car. Hudson, devastated by the loss, had just released her debut album in September. She is continuing to work (the album scored four Grammy nominations) and seemingly taking it day by day and our hats are off to her. Strong lady.

- De'Angelo Wilson, the actor who played DJ Iz in rapper Eminen's breakthrough film 8 Mile, was found dead of an apparent suicide. Wilson, who also appeared on an episode of CSI: NY, reportedly hanging himself on a "commercial premises" in Los Angeles. Wilson was thought to have been dead since Nov. 26.

- Despite their obvious hatred for each other, Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon's negative chemistry has created a hit film. Four Christmases was #1 at the box office for the second week in a row, bringing in $18 million. The total gross so far for the holiday comedy is $70.8 million. Which means the American public likes it when stars who despise each other make bad comedies where the high point is when a baby vomits on Reese's breasts.

- Nigel Barker is STRAIGHT?!?! America's Next Top Model's judge and celebrity photographer Nigel Barker has birthed a daughter Jasmine with wife Cristen Chin Barker. Jasmine Barker weighed 7 lbs., 11 oz. and was born at 5:03 p.m. in NYC yesterday. Seriously, watching that show you wonder if he's a hound who wanted to tag all the models or was just slightly butcher than Jay Manuel. Question answered!

Using a stake of good cheer straight to the heart, Four Christmases star Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn easily overtook the vampire romance Twilight at the box office this past weekend.

In its opening weekend, the Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart vehicle raked in an impressive $70 million, but in its second weekend ticket sales dropped off a stunning 62 percent while Four Christmases pulled in $46.7 million. Still, the young bloodsuckers have managed to pull in a total of $120 million so, which is no small feat.

Maybe this successful opening weekend will change Reese Witherspoon's tune about getting into the spirit of the season. It's a Christmas miracle!

Known for being the consummate professional, Reese Witherspoon chatted with The Envelope in order to squelch any talk that she and her 4 Christmases co-star Vince Vaughn bumped heads during the filming of their holiday movie.

Witherspoon denied there was on-set tension by saying, "We were very good friends and were very much partners on this movie." However, she did say that their drastic height difference (he's 6'5" and she's 5'2") required special coordination on set.

"It was hard to get up there to kiss him, but we worked it out. And he had to pick me up for half the dancing. He's actually holding me in the air so we can stay in the same frame. He's a fantastic dancer."
