OK, so this isn't really a letter from the editor, since I don't really have much to say--but I feel like what it is I'm feeling right now, can best be expressed by "I've Never Been to Me" by Charlene.
I know this is the second letter from the editor that I'm dedicating to covering the Writers Guild strike, but living here in Los Angeles, it's literally right down the street from where I live and pretty much unavoidable--and will get even more unavoidable as more and more shows shut down their production from lack of scripts. Of course, what would strike coverage be without some celebrity interaction? Well, on this site, not very interesting--because that's what we do! We do celebrities! And yesterday, I headed out to Universal Studios with my good friend, Wayne Ford, and interviewed those stars who were out that day to show their solidarity with the striking writers and I have to say, I couldn't turn around without bumping into a face I recognized. It was kind of scary, to be quite honest.

For those of you who live in Los Angeles, you may have seen a bunch of people walking around with picket signs outside of the major studios, encouraging cars driving past to honk in support of their cause, but perhaps you weren't sure whether or did support the writer's strike...well, here's something someone forwarded to me to help me understand what all this fuss is about and since I like video instruction, I thought I'd share. And maybe you don't live in Los Angeles, but you know that your television schedule is going to get all kinds of f-d up by the lack of writers, and you'd also like to figure out what the heck is going on.

First and foremost, HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I hope you guys are enjoying the season by pigging out on candy and passing out what is left to the trick-or-treaters who wander over to my apartment. Why? Because I won't feel so bad about doing it, if I know I'm not alone. In any case, over the weekend, I decided to give in to my true nature and dressed up like a witch, and my boyfriend agreed to allow me to paint his face as a zombie and we drove all around Venice Saturday night, trying to find a party. The only problem was that I had forgotten my phone at home, as well as the street address, so we ended up coming back home, enjoying a Photo Booth photo shoot and watched TV. I feel like there was Taco Bell involved in there somewhere.

So, as you may have seen, on the site, I had an interview with Kevin Bacon and I was pretty damn nervous, since I actually avoid direct contact with celebrities at all costs. I usually prefer to just take their picture and run, or write about them from the comfort of my own home. However, this time, I was actually excited since Kevin Bacon is an actor who really seems to be grounded and also has been in a lot of film roles that I admire. Because of my nerdy love for good film, I was really happy to get a chance to talk to him one-on-one, as well as with Marcia Gay Harden. Good times.
The weird thing is that while Wayne and I were standing at the red carpet waiting to do interviews, I noticed some tiny bits of white on my shirt and that Wayne also had some of the same on him. Turns out it was some of the ash floating around in the wind, carried from the crazy fires that are burning in and around Los Angeles. Oddly enough, I was staying up in Big Bear Lake this weekend, falling in love with the area, only to return back Sunday afternoon to find out that fires had broken out in Malibu and were being carried in the direction of the place we had left.

Hola! As we speak, the cable guy is on his way to my apartment to get me set up with my cable box and enable me to experience a television overdose that hasn't been seen for quite some time. You see, I haven't had cable television for over four years and I'm now hooked up with my new TiVo and cable and I'm a little concerned my head might explode. However, I realized that if I'm going to be staying current with gossip and whatnot, I needed to upgrade. Much like me, ASL is also planning some major upgrades coming up here pretty soon. We offered a survey for you guys, to voluntarily fill out and help us figure out what things you'd like to see on the site and what stuff you wanted to see less of. I want to thank all of you who gave us your input--and please know that you can always email me any time with suggestions and whatnot.

Yay! Fall has arrived. It's one of my favorite times of the year (or at least in the top four), with the weather changing ever-so-slightly and Halloween right around the corner. I know people accuse Los Angelenos of not having weather changes but we do. We just can't help it that every season is just a variation of "perfect." That's why our rent is so damn expensive, so get out of our faces already! But seriously, I really am looking forward to spending Halloween in my new apartment complex filled with kids. This year, I'm keeping the costume simple and authentic--that's right, the Wicked Witch of the West. And none of that "sexy witch " crap either. We're talking big, black skirt, pointy hat and green face make-up. I'm already genetically predisposed to being able to successfully pull off the look (have you seen my chin and nose?) and LOVE face paint above all else.

If I seem a bit listless guys, it's because I'm still recovering from a ridiculous injury that I accidentally inflicted upon myself on Friday. I was hastily grabbing a cup of hot water from my microwave to make myself some hot tea, when I spilled it on my right boob. Yeah, it was about as sexy as it sounds. Needless to say, I'm sporting a coaster-sized red spot on my cleavage area at the moment. However, the body is a resilient machine and I can't believe how much better it already looks today, but that still isn't going to keep me from harping on my injury and showing off my wound to any and everyone who will listen.
It's been a a strange two weeks, guys. First off, I'm in my new apartment, which I LOVE, and even though unpacking has been a lot of work, it always reminds me of Christmas. This is because my youngest sister used to like to steal some of my things weeks before, wrap them up and then give them to me as gifts on Christmas Day. I'm now feeling more settled and have to apologize for missing last week's letter, and for having this one be so late. I'm a wreck! Not really. I'm just disorganized.
And before I forget, I want to remind you all that one of my favorite shows, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" is premiering tonight on FX at at 10PM. Here's a full, brand-new episode on YouTube for you to check out.
In any case, the awards season is totally getting geared up. I know the VMAs aren't exactly the most prestigious awards in the entertainment industry, but they have been getting lots of buzz, mostly in part thanks to a lackluster performance by Britney Spears. People have been going bonkers, either trashing her or defending her and I have been loving every minute. Crazy is good for business.
Lisa gets excited about the Emmys after the jump...
A lot has happened since my last letter to you guys. I returned from a trip to Texas, immediately packed up my apartment and moved everything into my new place and handed over my keys to the first apartment in which I'd ever lived by myself. Yes, we're talking milestones here, people. However, rather than deal with the process of unpacking and getting used to my new place, I've opted to engage in a very Hollywood activity instead--namely housesitting for a successful producer friend of mine and my boyfriend's. Oh yes, we're talking a well-stocked refrigerator, cable television with all the bells and whistles, as well as a pool. All the comforts of home and then some. So, I didn't even both unpacking my desktop at my new place and decided instead to play house for the next week and a half and delay the inevitable--unpacking.
