Alright, I'm declaring a moratorium on busting on Cameron Diaz for awhile. Her Dad passed away. Emilio Diaz, 58, passed away due to flu-related pneumonia on Monday. He was a second generation Cuban-American who for an oil company. Shooting on Cameron's latest movie, My Sister's Keeper, was shut down when Cameron received news of his death. "My mom, sister and I are deeply appreciative of the overwhelming outpouring of love and support during this difficult time for us and all of our family," she said in a statement. "My dad was loved by so many people and his humor and spirit will always live on in our hearts," she added. Photos: SplashNewsOnline.com
Heath Ledger's uncle Haydn, who is estranged from the rest of his family, made news last week with claims that Heath had a child out of wedlock with an older woman. His family is trying to clear that mess up. His uncle Mike gave an interview in which he said that claims of a love child were "berserk", but wouldn't say yay or nay. "All my brother Haydn said was that anything is possible, and from there, it just went absolutely berserk. At the end of the day, our thoughts are with the little girl in question, and we're not prepared to make any more comments at all," says Uncle Mike. He also went on to say that it shouldn't be ruled out because "there were rumors." "He was a young, good-looking guy, and he attracted lots of women," Heath's uncle said. So it's still up in the air, really. It sounds like there's a possibility that Matilda might have to share the wealth with some other chick in the future. I do think that the Ledger family might want to settle down a bit, though. Especially crazy uncle Haydn. Where's the "e?" I have an uncle Freddie who can pee over a Ford Pinto (lengthwise) but he doesn't run to the networks about my every move. Yes, I'm a celebrity! Shut up!![]()

The death of Anna Nicole's son, Daniel, has officially been ruled an accident. The Associated Press revealed that a Bahamian jury of seven took two hours of deliberations before coming to the conclusion that there was no need to file any criminal charges in regards to the 20-year-old's death. An autopsy was conducted after Daniel's death in September of 2006, indicating that his death was most likely the result of a lethal mix of antidepressants and methadone. In November of last year, an inquest into Daniel's death began, which has come to an end with this recent ruling.![]()

Mel Gibson lives a weird life. A construction worker killed himself at Mel's house on Monday night. His body was found yesterday. The man had hung himself. His foreman found the 48-year-old construction worker's body yesterday morning at Mel's home in Agoura Hills near Malibu. Mel and his family aren't living at the house because it's under heavy construction. The body was found in an addition that's being built. This is way too creepy. Someone checked out and decided to hand Mel some extra grief while he was doing it. Maybe the pay sucked? Mel's had a rough couple of years. He had a totally public drunken racist meltdown, is currently trying to counsel Britney Spears, and now people are tapping out at his house. The ruling force of the universe has to be Jewish and loving this drama. Photos: BauerGriffinOnline.com
Despite denials that there would be a memorial service in Los Angeles for the recently deceased Heath Ledger from his rep, one was held last night. A small group of mourners, including Heath's ex-girlfriend Naomi Watts, gathered at Westwood Village Memorial Park. Naomi was said to be "visibly upset". Mourners arrived in the lobby of the Beverly Hills Hotel prior to the service. On the opposite coast, a statement by Heath's father was read at the G'Day USA: Australia Week 2008 Black Tie Gala in New York City yesterday. This event was at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and featured several celebrities including Jessica Alba. Around a 1,000 guests were read a statement by Australia's consul-general written by Kim Ledger. He said ""Heath did not become an actor for the fame or fortune. He loved his craft and he loved helping his friends. He loved chess and skateboarding too. My image of Heath in New York is him with his skateboard, a canvas bag and his beanie. That was Heath to me." Kim Ledger's written statement concluded with ""Heath is and always will be an Australian." Ouch. You know that this is a serious post as I am totally avoiding baggin' on Jessica Alba and you know she makes me see red for some reason. 14 more photos from the G'Day Australia Day Black Tie Gala in New York City featuring Julian McMahon, Jessica Alba, Shannon Noll, Rachael Taylor and Miranda Kerr are after the jump.![]()

Brookyn locals were shocked to hear the news of their former neighbor's death yesterday. Heath Ledger and his ex-fiancee, Michelle Williams, used to live together in the area and were described as "such lovely people." Heath, especially was described as, "very loving," and a dedicated father. A makeshift memorial has been created by mourning fans and locals, with flowers, pictures, notes and candles just outside Heath's Broome Street apartment in Soho, where he was found yesterday. Although autopsy reports are "inconclusive" numerous sources are claiming that Heath's death was most likely not a suicide and was instead accidental. An forensic expert who chatted with People magazine (and who they are quick to note is not involved in any official investigation of Heath's death) pointed out that Heath's pneumonia most likely not a cause. According to Michael Baden, "I would assume under the circumstances that if he'd die of pneumonia that would be clearly stated, because of concerns from the family." Photos: INFDaily.com![]()

Heath Ledger has been found dead. His body was discovered this afternoon at around 3:30 PM by his housekeeper in his SoHo home. At the age of 28, he is survived by his two-year-old daughter with his former fiancee Michelle Williams. Apparently, the housekeeper had gone into Heath's room to alert him that his masseuse for his massage had arrived and that's when he was found. This information was released by NYPD rep, Paul Browne. At that point, the New York Fire Dept. received a call in response to a "cardiac arrest call." As far as it's known, the actor was found "surrounded by pills" and was by himself. The "Brokeback Mountain" star was set to take on the role of Joker for the latest installment in the Batman movie series, "The Dark Knight." UPDATE: The Broome Street apartment was mistakenly believed to be owned by Mary-Kate Olsen, who happened to be on the West Coast in California at the time. However, this does not appear to be true. At this point, police do not seem to believe there was foul play involved in his death and it seems to have been ruled accidental. A police spokeswoman has revealed that the pills are over-the-counter sleeping pills. Reportedly, the actor had experienced substance abuse problems in the past, but had never been in rehab. The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation has released the following statement about his death: "Heath Ledger will forever be remembered for his groundbreaking role as Ennis del Mar in Brokeback Mountain. His powerful portrayal changed hearts and minds in immeasurable ways. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends." Photos: WENN
The Associated Press is ready to go, should an untimely tragic end strike pop star, Britney Spears. Us Weekly chatted with AP's entertainment editor Jesse Washington about the fact that they already have an obituary prepared for Ms. Spears, just in case. According to Washington, "We are not wishing it, but if Britney passed away, it's easily one of the biggest stories in a long time." Yikes. Even though it's not uncommon for agencies to prepare obituaries for personalities of note over a certain age, it's still feels weird to see it in writing. But, we shouldn't worry too much guys, because apparently, Britney's buddy, Sam lufti recently assured Ryan Seacrest on his radio show that "everything's fine." TRANSLATION: Her ATM card still works. More photos of funny lady Britney Spears are after the jump.

The star of "Apt Pupil," and one of my personal favorites, "Ghostworld," Brad Renfro, was found dead in his home in Los Angeles this morning. This news comes after the 25-year-old had just recently finished filming "The Informers," which also co-starred Billy Bob Thornton and Winona Ryder. According to TMZ, Renfro had been battling substance abuse, with a number of drug convictions under his belt, and was going through an especially difficult time recently, in the wake of his parents' divorce. The cause of death has not yet been established. ![]()
