In an interview with Vanity Fair to promote all the crap she's been working on lately including her new album Hard Candy, her feature film, Filth and Wisdom, which she's directed and her documentary about Malawi I Am Because We Are. She is a busy woman, so it's amazing that she found time in between destroying her marriage (kidding!) to give an interview, but she is the all-powerful, all-knowing Madonna, so she managed to squeeze it in. The article doesn't really reveal anything new about the ambitious pop star, except they did describe her unique patois as "the voice of the upper Midwest painted in Oxford glaze," which I thought was the most hilarious euphemism I've heard in a long time. More of Madonna from her Vanity Fair photo shoot after the jump.
While Renée Zellweger and George Clooney are doing their tour across small-town America to promote their latest movie, Leatherheads, here's John Krasinski chatting with Parade magazine about the movie, as well as his unlikely career as an actor. Krasinski was working as an intern at the Conan O'Brien show eight years ago, when the head writer told him, "Don't even try making it as a writer. It's too tough. Try acting instead." And of course, that's fantastic news for a-holes like me who don't have any desire or talent to pursue that particular path. Luckily, for John, the acting thing has paid off and his character in Leatherheads is a college football star and according to Krasinski, "Clooney owns a professional team that's losing money and thinks that if he can just get the No. 1 college player, the team can become big-time." And of course, here's John, do all kinds of adorable Ivy-league goofball stuff for the accompanying photo shoot that went with the interview. One day I'll be sick of his schtick but until then, le sigh. More photos from John Krasinski's Parade photo shoot are after the jump.
The Daily Mail has just posted what looks like a pretty in-depth interview with the actress, asking her such questions as what things make her angry, which of her parents she is most like and what her idea of heaven is, to which she responded, "Falling in love with Tom and our daughter. I'm such a lucky woman. Sometimes I feel like I'm dreaming." And according to Katie's rep, the interviewer for the Daily Mail actually was dreaming up the whole thing. Page Six is reporting that Katie's people are claiming that none of the questions were posed to Mrs. Cruise. According to her rep, "That story is completely made up." Hey, Daily Mail, making shit up is our job. Leave blogging to the unprofessionals, thanks.![]()

But then again, it's such a good song. The 32-year-old actress was recently chatting with press about her backpacking travels with boyfriend, Stuart Townsend, mistakenly identifying Budapest as a city in Turkey. According to the Daily Mail, Theron said: "We went to Turkey. When we got over there, we rented a car and we drove all the way to Budapest. By the time we got to Budapest it was like the Cannes Film Festival, I'd never seen anything like it." As it turns out, all of the activity she was referring to was taking place at the Istanbul International Film Festival. I'll be honest--I'm ridiculously ignorant when it comes to geography so I can sympathize with Charlize. I used to think that cartography was the study of carts, that is, until my boyfriend very helpfully corrected me. Dating a 5th grader might have it's disadvantages, but at least it keeps me from looking like an idiot.![]()

Unfortunately, TV Guide canceled its Online Video Awards ceremony and television special, due to the writers strike. Nevertheless they did announce the winners of their inaugural awards on Monday and in addition to Steve Carell, Ellen DeGeneres, Funny or Die and The Office walking away as winners, my good friend Laura Howard won as well! Here's an interview with Laura, days before before winning TV Guide's Best Web Actress award. Laura was awarded Best Web Actress for her work on the Michael Eisner-backed web series, "Prom Queen," and was nominated alongside Illeana Douglas ("Supermarket of the Stars"), Jessica Lee Rose ("LonelyGirl15"), and Pearl from the FunnyorDie.com videos that she did with Will Ferrell ("The Landlord" and "Good Cop Bad Cop"). We all sort of figured Pearl was the front runner, so it was a very exciting morning on Monday when my boyfriend saw the results and broke the good news to Laura!
When I first heard that I might have the opportunity to talk with comedian, Andy Dick, I was definitely excited, but also a little nervous. As a fan of "The Ben Stiller Show," "The Andy Dick Show" and his faux-reality show, "The Assistant," I knew his brand of comedy was based largely on blurring the lines between what was real and what Andy wanted you to think was real. And then, of course, there is his reputation for being a flat-out crazy person, and I honestly had no idea what to expect. So, when we got on the phone to talk about his movie, "Danny Roane,: First Time Director," I was surprised at how easy it was to have a conversation with Andy. Written, starring and directed by Andy, the movie is a mockumentary, semi-autobiographical spoof of Andy's life and career, as told through the character Danny Roane. Often silly and sometimes very dark, the movie feels like Andy's first attempt--however jokingly--to present his version of his life-story to the public. First of all, I'm a huge fan. I love you! Thanks! I have the water going--it's so rude of me--but I'm actually in the bath tub. (Lisa laughs) That's so rude. I should just turn if off, huh? That's---you know what? Just as long as you don't drop anything into the tub, I think that we'll be OK. I know. But I don't think I would get electrocuted from a little phone. You think I would? At least a little bit. Like a taser. More from the interview after the jump... See more photos from Danny Roane: First Time Director after the jump.
Now, we know Halloween was yesterday, but we're still feeling the scary vibe of the holiday and thought we'd share with this video of Rachel Nichols talking about her movie "P2", along with an interview with the film's director. Franck Khalfoun, first-time feature-film director of the suspense-filled thriller, "P2," agreed to chat with me about his film. Khalfoun, having had been writing for over twenty years on various projects, is admittedly excited about his first big movie as a director. "P2" is the name of both the film and the level in the parking structure in which a young, ladder-climbing executive, Angela Bridges (Rachael Nichols), finds herself being held hostage by a security guard, Thomas (Wes Bentley), who has apparently been stalking her for some time. It's Christmas Eve, her cell phone doesn't work and Angela soon realizes the only way she can get out of this situation alive is to rely on her own resources to escape. Keep in mind that I haven't yet seen the film, which opens in theaters November 9th, but I did check out the trailer, and I'm going to be honest--I'm the WORST when it comes to watching movies that are remotely scary. Seriously. I passed out when watching foot surgery in high school. But, I am a lover of film, and I was excited to talk with someone who had just gotten his big break and wasn't yet too jaded and big for his britches to chat with us. Well, it's funny because when I started watching the trailer and reading the synopsis, it reminds me a lot of a Richard Linklater from 2001 - I don't know if you're familiar with it, it's called "Tape." And it kind of reminded me just because it was three characters only, in the movie, and they were all in a hotel room the entire time. And it wasn't quite a psychological thriller in the sense that yours is, but I love the idea of a finite space and just very few characters, so that it becomes very internal. Yes, it's fun, but at the same time challenging to make a movie that's interesting. I don't know that movie--you stumped me, but I'm going to have to check it out. Check out the rest of Lisa's interview with Franck after the jump--if you dare, mwahahaha! (It's not really that scary. I was kidding. But seriously, you should keep reading...)

Reminding Lisa of a young Leonardo DiCaprio, Miles Heizer actually reminded me that I hadn't eaten dinner yet. Oh wait--actually, that might have been the growling noise in my stomach. Regardless, Miles Heizer is a young actor who is starring in his first feature film, "Rails & Ties" directed by Clint Eastwood's daughter, Alison Eastwood. Miles was also in an episode of "Private Practice" I watched last week, playing the role of a young gay teen. His portrayal of the character was simple, real and honest. This is definitely an up-and-coming actor to keep on your radar. And if you haven't had a chance to see them yet, check out ASL's interviews with Kevin Bacon and Marcia Gay Harden at the "Rails & Ties" premiere!
Last night at the premiere for "Rails & Ties," Marcia Gay Harden chatted with A Socialite's Life about her penchant for highly emotional, dramatic roles and the methods she uses for developing her characters, both inside and out. Plus Marcia explains her love for character-driven movies and why she has no time for TV. Not to mention, we were totally digging her hair and dress. If you haven't done so yet, check out our interview with Kevin Bacon!
