Queen Latifah Wants You to Smell Like A Queen

There are no words to describe how much I love Queen Latifah.  She is so beautiful and approachable (and Living Single was one of the most brilliant shows EVER) and I think she and I could be bestest friends!  Ok, that sounded less creepy in my head.

Well, the Queen was at Macy's in Houston last week to promote her new fragrance, Queen (notch).  The fragrance has been described as 'slightly sweet and wearable,' however you'd like to interpret that.  But Latifah picked it out herself, so it must be fabulous.  And having your own fragrance is the latest craze, you guys.

Speaking of fabulous, here she is at Macy's, Herald Square, in NYC yesterday and I'm not too proud to say that I covet her entire outfit.  Except the tights.  I just can't drink the Kool-Aid on that trend.

Matt Damon Is A Patriotic Papa

I still think of Matt Damon as the poor little genius boy in Good Will Hunting.  That's probably because when I see him with a wife and kids I look the other way to keep up the fantasy. But alas, he is a father of three cute little ones and it sounds like a hard working one at that.

"I never knew I could function this well with no sleep," he says.  Not only is he up with the tots, the star of the Bourne trilogy expects to take on the task of influential role model.  Damon, who recently announced he would only give interviews when he was able to promote causes close to his heart, expects his children take on the activism fight. "The tagline is that Democracy is not a spectator sport," he says. "This country is about participation, activism, understanding the history of the country, understanding your place in that history, being involved and being a productive part of the American experience."

Oooooh, say can you seeeeeee...!

Okay, I feel horrible that I have done nothing for my country today unless you count hording the last of the Mike & Ike's from the supermarket as working to stop this countries childhood obesity problem. Please save our country Mr. Damon.

Kate Bosworth Denies Alexander Skarsgard Relationship

Rumors are running rampant that Kate Bosworth and True Blood star, Alexander Skarsgard, are romantically-involved. The Swedish actor said recently that he and Bosworth aren't dating, even though the twosome showed up together at this year's GQ Men of the Year event.

The couple will be playing opposite one another in a remake of the 1971 thriller, Straw Dogs, and it seems like they're practicing spending lots of time together.

On an outing to see Fantastic Mr. Fox with Skarsgard, Bosworth laughed off the suggestion that the two were dating, telling reporters, "You guys are funny. Friends, guys! We work together!" Oh, we'll wear them down, eventually.

Tom Ford Isn't A Diva & Likes 'Twilight'

Admittedly, designer-turned-director, Tom Ford is a "control freak" but wishes there were a more positive-sounding term for his attention to detail. Ford's film, A Single Man, screened at this year's AFI Film Festival and Ford admits that he was "an extremely hands-on director."

As a result, Tom says the film is "the most personal," "most purely artistic" project he's ever completed. However, he says, "I don't throw temper tantrums. I'm a very rational, compassionate, organized guy. Working in a pleasant environment is very important to me."

But that doesn't mean he's only got eyes for independent, artsy films. Ford adds, "I like Twilight. I liked the first one, and I'm dying to see the new one. But it's a different side of life."

Mariah Carey Accused Of Being A Diva By Talk Show Host

British morning talk show host, Kate Garraway, gave an interview to New! magazine about Mariah Carey's recent appearance on GMTV. Garraway says, "While Mariah was very nice, the amount of people she had in her entourage was hilarious." Garray adds, "Oh, and she brought her own toilet roll as well."
 
According to Kate, Carey's inner circle "outnumbered the GMTV crew," which included two people whose job it was to lower the singer onto the sofa on set. To ensure that the Precious star didn't take a tumble, one person walked in front of her and one followed close behind.

A rep for the pop star dismissed the interview as a "clear, gross exaggeration" and adds, "Kate got in shortly afterwards and the place was abuzz with what had happened. It was not so much Mariah, as she points out--but her entourage."

This interview, of course, follows the recent claim that Mariah demanded one hundred white kittens for a recent public appearance. To be fair, she's single-handedly keeping butterfly confetti-making companies in business.

Patrick Dempsey Fills Up & Smells Sweet

Did you guys realize that Patrick Dempsey had a fragrance out with Avon? In fact, the Grey's Anatomy star has already launched his second with the cosmetics company, entitled Patrick Dempsey 2. Really? Nothing more creative came mind for a name? It's a shame nobody consulted me, because then they could have triumphantly unveiled McSmellygood by Patrick Dempsey.

His first fragrance is Unscripted and Dempsey compared the two by saying, "Both of the fragrances are aspects of me, but this one is more complex. It pushes it a little further--it's bolder, not as sweet, and more spicy."

The actor goes on to say, "Unscripted is about the individual, while Patrick Dempsey 2 is about coming back to the person who makes you feel special; it's about the importance of a union."

Yes, that's what you get when you mix notes of mandarin, saffron, spiced wood and patchouli. I'm kind of surprised that there's not a teeny, tiny bit of gasoline in there, considering he's such a gearhead.
